Wednesday May 23rd Visual Asylum MaeLin Levine Sadly this was our last fieldtrip and last day of class, Visual Asylum a cool fun looking place ta just hang out all day design and have fun in a cool fun environment , MaeLin and her sister Amy are Partners in this Graphic Design firm, MaeLin being the creative director and Amy the design director. I thoroughly enjoyed having both of them instruct our Professional Practice class, they are So Knowledgeable and Highly Respected  by their peers in their fields, everywhere we toured or whoever we talked to had nothing but the utmost respect for them both, i felt Honored being taught by them, i only hope that one day i can be considered in the same way for my work and to start out how MaeLin started off with only a meager means of surviving and starting out moving from her home state of Colorado, i really admire her drive and persistence to make it big in her Design Career that she has now done. Monday May 21st Field trip Hollis Brand Culture Don Hollis This evening was to a Graphic / Interior Design studio / Art Gallery in the Little Italy District with about 20 some years in existence throughout San Diego. HBC is a quaint  3 level gallery that has also hosted many Art shows and has had the good fortune of showcasing hundreds of artists in their gallery, The 1st level is where the host their client meetings but also doubles as the art gallery, the 2nd level is where the Production Manager and Graphic Designers are located  with the 3rd level being Dons area as well as several Interior designers, being directly under the flight path could be noisy at times but they all said they are used to it now, lol, its a very confined quarters on each level but sure makes for a fun environment.

There was ALOT, ALOT more hours than listed on the timesheet, this is just and estimate of the time spent in class or other classes working on projects, there was many times was just too tired to remember the MULTIPLE, MULTIPLE days time and hours spent.

Wednesday May 7 2018 Guest speaker Lisa Sanchez Bookeeper this evening Mrs Sanchez was in class to share some information when you freelance your Graphic Design Business, one thing was that invoices are very much needed when doing design work for a client and sending out the invoices showing the time spent on your creative work in order to get paid for your work. Mentioned keep the invoice simple as possible. Always make sure to tax your work if you fabricated it, something like stationary with a logo. If its a digital file its taxable. If you print it then give it to the client then its taxable.you must register with your business with the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration to get a TIN Tax Identification Number. You must charge tax for the region of San Diego or San Diego Counties that the client is located in, each area has a a different tax charge so must charge accordingly for what ever area. Make a Behance page to showcase your work and talents. best Graphic Designs programs to know are Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign but try to learn others as well. Ux design is good to know as well to get into print production, try to learn Sketch. good to learn digital marketing. they also informed us than digital designers make more than print designers. Said when submitting a Resume both digital and print are acceptable, but digital is more preferable.

Wednesday April 18th This evening our field trip was to a small out of the way to a Clove Street Press, a direct impression printing and packaging business in the Morena Area District, The proprietor of the business is the business founder and owner Dan, the Name of the business came about out by the street Dan lived on in the Pt. Loma area of San Diego on Clove Street when he was a Graphic Design student attending Pt. Loma Nazarene University in his Junior Year, Clove Street Press 1st started in the wedding invitations business then branched out to custom playing decks and packaging.
